I was on a great podcast! My friend Katie Nordgren runs the Sea Hags podcast with her friend Chris Rzepa and they invited me to be a guest. It was a lot of fun and I'm very thankful for the opportunity to be silly with a couple of really cool people. I am on Episode…
Hey, look at that! All past YouTube episodes (that I consider 'true' episodes) have been posted to the page, and should now be in iTunes as soon as the feed refreshes. As for my YouTube channel itself, it will eventually be updated, but unfortunately, adding the videos is way more time-consuming than adding audio for…
Emily and I discuss my obsession with The Witcher, among other things, and Dolly Parton's newest album.
Inspired by a friend's post, Emily and I discuss who we would fuck, marry, or kill of the Game of Thrones characters.
A tribute to the late comedian Charlie Murphy, as I recount meeting him and a beautiful woman at Caroline's on Broadway in 2013. Miss ya, Charlie (July 12, 1959-April 12, 2017)
VERY LATE discussion on recent comedy controversies including Kathy Griffin's now-famous beheading video, Bill Maher's off-colour joke, Johnny Depp's assassination reference, and Iliza Shlesinger's finger-wagging take on women in comedy. This is several weeks late. Apologies.
Emily and I talk the confirmed Netflix series of The Witcher, suggest cast ideas, as well as video game movies, and I shit on Uwe Boll and Skip Woods.
Emily is back on the show as we talk about the infamous Steveston sea lion, Game of Thrones season 7, Vancouver comedy drama and Discorder Magazine, ghosts and upcoming shows.
My girlfriend joins in me discussing the above, as well as Dr. Steve Brule, Avatar and cannons.
Wherein I interview Vancouver-based comedian, Ed Hill, in a pizza place's basement. No shit. Ed's a funny and smart dude and has had a successful career with no signs of slowing down. He's got two albums, Canasian, and Weirdo Whisperer and is consistently on tour. Please enjoy!
...except a few. I preach the politics of anger and lash out at Anthony Cumia, with whom I am disappointed. Talking about celebrities, Trump (I know; ugh), citizenship, abortion, the media and Kevin O'Leary.
I sat down with the unfairly-talented multi-instrumentalist, "Two Turntables and A" Mike St. Jean to talk about the value and re-purposing of art, music, meditation and more. Oh, and taquitos, of course. He's a very heady and cool dude and I hope you enjoy it. I apologize for being a bit more wooden than usual; I was very tired. And still am. Do it up!
I'm an argumentative dick. I discuss Donald Trump, Rodrigo Duterte, Amy Schumer, "Barbie" casting controversy, Louis CK, cosplayer Jessica Nigri, Jenna Marbles and more.
Wherein I bash and (sorta) defend the Orange Shitbag, Donald Trump. I also talk about sexism and racism in fantasy, but mostly The Witcher 3.
In my glow from the Che Dorval interview, talking about an article I read here: http://thoughtcatalog.com/ryan-holida...
Emily and I grouse about how much going to the movies has lost its magic. I also relate some stories from working at my local theatre.
I'm a lucky little fanboy and interviewed the wickedly talented Che Aimee (AH-mee) Dorval. She's had a 10+ year career as a solo guitarist and singer, having released Underachiever in 2008 and Volume 1 in 2015, and is known for her collaborations with Devin Townsend on 2009's Ki and 2014's Casualties of Cool. She's got a killer voice, a great personality, a sharp sense of humour and is a lovely human being. We met at a small restaurant to talk music, life, comedy, performing and a lot more. We also eat. I talk about myself too much. We're definitely BFFF's now.
Jimmy Fallon had a real softball interview with Donald Trump and was lambasted for it. I defend him... kinda.
The new Ghostbusters movie probably sucked, but didn't deserve the hype. Wherein I actually agree with feminist points! and disagree with right-wing people! Those never happen! Talking Ghostbusters, the cast and crew, Gavin McInnes and Leslie Jones and Twitter.
Mark Hughes is a Vancouver-based comic. In preparation for his Fringe Festival show, "Tragedy + Time Served = Comedy" he's been doing dry runs all over the Lower Mainland. In it, he documents his childhood and upbringing, time in-and-out of various correctional institutions, drug addiction, homelessness and eventual decision to live a clean life. I had the privilege of seeing it twice, and it's unique, raw and human, and seeing Mark perform stand-up numerous times, he's got a rare talent for turning personal pain into (near) universal comedy. We sat down for an interview after he performed the show in my living room for myself and some friends.
Yup. All about periods. Yes, those kinds. Period.
Metal drumming legend, Ryan Van Poederyooen and I talk music, positivity, success, health and happiness. Great dude and a great chat. Thanks to Ryan for talking to me! Ryan's various pages can accessed from rvpdrums.com
Discussing two women who heckled me at Goldie's Pizza recently. Forgot to mention that the one who I argued with said "I'm not hitting on you." I know that, stupid. Get over yourself. Full audio of the offending show: https://youtu.be/Vea3SrGoGPk
Dumb internet tropes, ideas and cultural aspects that I loathe.
I met JJ Caithcart at his store, SCRAPE Records, October 7, 2010. Fresh out of high school, I became addicted to music, heavy metal in particular, and learning more and more, and JJ fed that addiction with aplomb. Over the next six years, I spent countless hours there, hanging out, talking, learning, listening, and was privileged enough to help with in-store meet-and-greets with bands like Gojira, and Devin Townsend. We talk the fate of the store, the record industry in general, and his partnership with Vancouver metal band, Zimmer's Hole. Below, you can find links to a Zimmer's Hole pre-order on Indiegogo, as well as other Scrape Records media. Check it out! It's in the title. We talk music, comedy, performing, mental illness, life stuff, porn, movies, melancholy and more. I had a lot of fun; it was a great talk and great to reconnect with a good friend. Thanks Kamaira!
